How To Manage Your Cell Phone Bill Efficiently

The secret about cell phone companies is that their profits mainly comes from adding on services to your cell phone contract. The contracts themselves are not that profitable for cell phone companies. All the extra services you end up buying can make your bill twice as expensive each month. If you are looking to save money, you should think about this secret about cell phone companies and look closely at your bill. The following are some common things you are paying too much for on your cell phone bill.
Stop paying for insurance. Your cell phone insurance may not cost more than $10 a month but if you add that up for the year you are paying between $60 and $120 annually! If you hang on to your old cell phones, you can always use one of those if something happens to your current cell phone and you don’t have insurance. That way you can wait out the end of your contract until you can get another free phone for signing up for another two years.
Don’t pay for a usage report. If you are paying extra to get a detailed report of your cell phone usage, you should stop now. You may have this report feature for one of two reasons: (1) you do not have very many minutes and want to be sure you don’t go over; or (2) your plan has so many minutes you want to see how many you use. Either way you are wasting money. The best thing to do is get in the right cell phone plan for you so you have enough minutes but you aren’t paying extra for minutes you don’t use. The usage reports really don’t help you that much anyway.
Be prepared when you know there will be extra charges. If you are going to be out of town for work or pleasure and will be out of your service area, you can always change to a plan that covers the area you will be while you are gone and then go back to your normal plan when you get home.
Look for employee discounts. If your company has a large account with a cell phone provider, you may get a discount on your personal cell phone account. You can also be eligible for special pricing that will cut your bill by as much as 20%.
Don’t pay for services you don’t use. Only get things like unlimited texting if you really will use it to its full potential. Getting rid of services you don’t use on your phone can save a lot of money. Look carefully at your cell phone bill and think about how much you use the services you are paying for each month. If your kids have services they use but don’t pay for, you can either cut them off or have them start paying for these extras they think are necessary like Internet access and unlimited texting.
Consider switching to a prepaid cell phone plan. It costs more per minute with these plans but you only pay for the minutes you actually use. That way you are not under contract with the cell phone company.
Keep in mind the tips described above and you will be able to lower your monthly cell phone bill in no time.
Bland has all three of the Sony Ericsson Walkman brand pink cell phone models and he will probably buy a Hello Kitty Cell Phone just for the heck of it.
